10G Copper SFP
A 10G Copper SFP (often called 10GBASE-T SFP+ module ) is a transceiver that converts an SFP+ port on a network device into a standard RJ45 Ethernet port , allowing 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission over copper twisted-pair cables . It enables 10 Gigabit Ethernet transmission over twisted-pair copper cables . It follows the IEEE 802.3an, which defines 10Gbps Ethernet over copper. 1. Basic Concept Normally, an SFP+ port on a switch or server is designed for optical transceivers (fiber). A 10G Copper SFP allows the same port to connect to copper Ethernet cables instead of fiber . 2. Main Functions A 10G Copper SFP performs three main tasks: 1). Signal Conversion Converts SFP+ electrical interface signals into 10GBASE-T Ethernet signals . 2). Physical Interface Change Changes the port type from: SFP+ optical interface to RJ45 copper interface 3). Network Compatibility Allows existing fiber-based network equipment to connect to standa...
